Believe it or not, it's been 20 years since we, along with a group of good friends who rode through Europe the summer before, started what was then called the Action Cycling 200! Yes, 20 years. WOW!! While each of us is only planning to ride a metric century (62 miles over 2 days), we'd still appreciate your support for this amazing event, which by now you all know raises money to fund the research needed to find a vaccine to end HIV/AIDs.

We will personally match every dollar you donate up to $3,000. 

Since we began in 2003, Action Cycling Atlanta has donated over $3.5 million to the Emory Vaccine Center and other AIDS service organizations.  Many of you supported us in those early years as well as over the past two decades and can take pride in these accomplishments. But the fight is not over and the work is not complete.

The facts on HIV/AIDS remain startling, even after all of these years in the fight:

• Approximately 1.2 million people in the U.S. have HIV. About 13 percent of them don’t know it and need testing.
• HIV continues to have a disproportionate impact on certain populations, particularly racial and ethnic minorities and gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men.
• HIV diagnoses are not evenly distributed across states and regions. The highest rates of new diagnoses continue to occur in the South.
• There were an estimated 37.7 million people living with HIV at the end of 2020, over two thirds of whom are in the WHO African Region.
• South Africa has the highest number of people living with HIV in the world (7.5 million).
• UNAIDS estimates that approximately $29 billion will be required for the AIDS response in low- and middle-income countries, including countries formerly considered to be upper-income countries, in 2025 to get on track to end AIDS as a global public health threat.
